"its always been a father & son thing"
Christopher Lecuyer
Chris’ taxidermy journey started in 2016 after nearly a decade in a corporate office. Initially volunteering a half day a week for a local commercial taxidermy company, learning the basics and in an old school way. The three folks responsible for teaching him his skills, tricks, and techniques are grizzled taxidermy veterans with a combined experience of almost 100 years! Being constantly motivated to push the boundaries to the next level, he used these tried and true techniques combined with modern processes to produce superior results. Chris was ultimately offered a position and made the tough decision to walk away from the monotonous office life to a minimum wage apprenticeship. The unfortunate circumstances of Covid-19 led to a drastic change in the commercial lodging and taxidermy industries here locally, and the family operated business was forced to let Chris go. Seizing this opportunity to do his own thing, Chris launched Tall Tines Taxidermy!
Born and raised in Winnipeg, Chris has a strong passion for the outdoors and spends all of his free time in the woods pursuing a variety of big and small game. He is passionate about preserving the memories of your harvests and more importantly doing the animal the justice it deserves. Since a young boy, Chris has admired taxidermy in museum, commercial and residential settings and knew it was something he always wanted to do. Chris has shared a similar passion for scale modeling and hyper realistic diorama building. He enjoys visiting guiding, trapping, hunting, camping, hiking, museums and reading auto-biographies and fact based novels. He is a lover of tattoos, Ford trucks, cool September evenings and gigantic whitetail deer! His best buddy, hunting partner, and mentor is his father Ron.
Ron is the resident story teller, bull shitter, and jack of all trades! He is loved by all and is a unique character (just wait until its story time!) He is involved in almost every project in some form or fashion and is responsible for maintaining the quality of our tanning department! Being a father and son team means the world to him and he is happily involved in everything he can!
Ron is responsible for Chris’ love of everything outdoors. Growing up in Flin Flon, Manitoba and then moving to St. Eustache, Manitoba to work on his Fathers Strawberry U-Pick, Ron has spent the majority of his life in the country. He has pursued Whitetails passionately his entire life, and has recently started chasing other big and small game species! If he had his way every day, you would find him chasing migratory bird or on the water getting skunked! In his free time he can be spent helping his son in the shop, or watching the Blue Jays! He is honest, genuine and sincere. The shirt of his back kind of man.
